Policies

The Board Will Expend Funds On:

  • Emergency expenses for Police Department Staff in the event of death, serious injury, or illness of the staff member or immediate family member.
  • Scholarship funds opportunities for full-time and honorably retired members of the Lodi Police Department sworn officers and professional staff.
  • Social events to include hiring, promotion, and retirement functions.
  • Specialized staffing and equipment that would not qualify for the normal budgetary process, upon recommendation of the Chief of Police.
  • Support of other community organizations that act in partnership with the Lodi Police Department.
  • Support of special events that assist the Police Department.

The Board Will Not Expend Funds On:

  • Political campaigns or endorsements.
  • Equipment, staffing, or training that should be obtained through normal city budget.
  • Funds will not be expended for projects or events that do not directly support the Lodi Police Department and its mission.
  • It is recognized that the Board of Directors will not approve any equipment or project that does not have the specific endorsement of the Chief of Police.
  • It is recognized that the Board has the sole right to determine annual spending priorities and limits given budgetary limitations and goals. Spending policies may change from year to year depending on budget totals.
